Iowa Stories-Andrew Carnegie's Riches in Iowa

In October, the State Historical Society of Iowa hosted Dr. Shana Stuart as part of their Iowa Stories lecture series.

In this lecture, Dr. Stuart provided an overview of the Carnegie libraries in Iowa while focusing on Iowa City. She further highlighted commonalities and differences between this community and others across the state. The Carnegie Libraries in Iowa Project (CLIP) works to collect and preserve documentation related to the building of the Carnegie libraries in the state. The information has been collected, digitized and made available on the website ( is external)).

Shana Stuart has served as Director of CLIP since 2004; she is an adjunct instructor at the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in Art History and a Masters in Library and Information Science.
