Special Collections Olson Research Graduate Assistant Announced, Rachel Miller-Haughton

Rachel Miller-Haughton has been appointed to be the new Olson Research Graduate Assistant for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Hailing from San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Spanish from Scripps College, Rachel worked in the archives at Denison Library at Scripps, which is where she fell in love with special collections. "From artists’ books to vellum folios to old cartoons, I’m excited about everything in special collections. I’m especially looking forward to working with collections relating to marginalized voices: women of color, Black experiences, and the LGBTQIA+ community."

While taking on the role of the Olson Research Graduate Assistant, Rachel will also be enrolled in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Iowa. As the Olson Research Graduate Assistant, Rachel will assist with day-to-day operations in Special Collection such as answering reference questions, instructing classes, planning events, and processing and describing incoming collections. Outside of work and school, Rachel enjoys running, hiking, and writing bad poetry.
