Alumna Selected for Featured Presentation at ALISE

SLIS offers proud congratulations to 2011 grad Julia Skinner on being selected for a “Featured Presentation” at the 2013 Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Annual Conference in Seattle.

A doctoral student at Florida State University, Skinner was one of four panelists for a presentation titled “Questions Are Never Neutral: Examining the Occupy and Tea Party Movements as Exemplars of Information Research and Everyday (Political) Life.”

Skinner earned a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from SLIS and a certificate in Book Studies from the UI Center for the Book.

Her recently published first book, Modernizing Markham: Bringing the English Housewife to Today’s Readers, is an adaptation of her final project for the Center for the Book.
