LISSO Opening Social a Great Success

The LISSO Opening Social on Friday, August 24th was a smashing success. Both new and returning students came to partake of ice cream, cake, and camaraderie. The event was easy to find: all you had to do was follow the sounds of music and mirth trailing down the hall outside the conference room taken over for the occasion. The room was full, with at least 20 students enjoying the break after the first stressful week of classes.

The party wasn't only to welcome students back to campus, it was also a celebration to honor Vicki MacLeod, a member of the SLIS staff who has been working at the university for 30 years. A card was passed around and signed and SLIS provided Vicki with her own delicious, buttercream frosted cake adorned with pictures of the campus. A short speech was made by Bennett Magnino, the LISSO Social Chair, and Vicki was thanked with a hearty round of applause.

Needless to say, a good time was had by all. The next LISSO event will be the first meeting of the semester on Tuesday, September 4 in the same room, room 3082. We look forward to seeing you there!
