SLIS Alum Named Library Journal ‘Mover & Shaker’

For the past 10 years, Library Journal has been highlighting movers and shakers within LIS. In 2011, 50 individuals from a wide variety of professional positions were selected as innovators in the field, including one University of Iowa alum.

1993 SLIS graduate Jim Duncan is the Director of Networking and Resource Sharing for the Colorado State Library. He made the 2011 list of Movers and Shakers for his work moving, “the entire state server system to a new home in less than two days, at minimal cost, while successfully negotiating discounted digital services for libraries.”

According to the Library Journal article, Duncan no longer engages in direct public service, but instead enables others to perform service activities. He told Library Journal that many of his projects are never complete, but continue evolving with technology.
