‘Unpacking the Library’ Conference Proclaimed a Success

The first ever SLIS conference, “Unpacking the Library: Exploring Works in Progress Across LIS” had 57 registered attendees. Sponsored by BSides and LISSO, several conference organizers said the turnout exceeded expectations.

Current students and alumni presented on a variety of LIS topics and graduating students had an opportunity to practice their research poster presentation and receive feedback.

Conference organizer and BSides Editor Julia Skinner blogged summaries of many of the sessions. Check out her post on Julia's Library Research Blog.

Several prospective and future SLIS students came to check out what opportunities are available at SLIS. Alumni and practicing librarians also networked with students during breaks and over an extended lunch period.
