LISSO Meeting Highlights SLIS Technology

The first LISSO meeting of the semester showcased new technology purchased by the School of Library and Information Science. The school purchased iPads, e-Readers, Flip cameras and iPods that are available for student checkout and use. LISSO members requested these purchases last semester and hope this will help students with class projects and also familiarize them with many of the technologies they will be working with in future jobs.

At the meeting, some of this new technology was showcased and students were able to experiment with the new devices.

In other business, BSides editors announced that the school has provided money to print draft posters for the March 25 conference. An extended deadline for abstracts has been set for February 8, 2011. Submit your research proposals to bsides@uiowa.edu

Ideas for the next LISSO meeting should be sent to any LISSO officer.
