SLIS student Rachel Hall is celebrating the publication of her article, “Public Praxis: A Vision for Critical Information Literacy in Public Libraries,” in Vol. 29, Issue 2 of Public Library Quarterly (PLQ). Hall wrote the article for Jim Elmborg’s Literacy and Learning course last year.

Public Library Quarterly is a peer-reviewed journal aimed at, “leaders-directors, managers, staff, trustees, and friends-who believe that change is imperative if public libraries are to fulfill their service missions in the twenty-first century.”

Hall graduated from SLIS in May 2010 and is now working at the Lawrence Public Library in Lawrence, Kansas. She coordinated a Teen Volunteer program through their circulation department during the summer and accepted a position in Reference following that. Recently, the city of Lawrence approved a ballot measure for a library expansion project that will be voted on in November.
