October LISSO Meeting: Demystifying Poster Presentations

The October meeting of the Library and Information Science Student Organization (LISSO) focused on degree completion projects for SLIS students.

President Gwen Persons presented general information on the poster option and LISSO officers fielded questions from approximately 15 SLIS students in attendance.

The most important points for students to remember are to start thinking early and to take responsibility for asking questions about advisors and IRB approval themselves. LISSO officers also recommended choosing a topic that holds interest and thinking about how to turn class assignments into poster-worthy materials.

Secretary Katie DeVries Hassman then talked about her decision to write a thesis.

LISSO is also pleased to announce its new social chair, Julie Zimmerman.
