This presentation offers a broad introduction to the study of video games, with an emphasis on gaming's diverse cultural manifestations (e.g., queer gamers and experimental games). This presenter will discuss the opportunities and challenges of preserving space (figuratively and literally) for gaming in the library and will make the case that the official presence of video games on campus would serve an important community-building function for students and faculty at the University of Iowa. Featured speaker is Christopher Goetz, Assistant Professor, Cinematic Arts.
