“Walt Whitman at 200: The Bicentennial Symposium” accompanies the exhibit “Walt Whitman: A Bicentennial Celebration,” University of Iowa Main Library Gallery, curated by Stephanie M. Blalock, Brandon James O’Neil, and Ed Folsom. All events will be held in the Main Library Gallery, first floor, North Entrance.

Friday, April 5, 3:30-6:00: Opening of the Exhibit and Symposium: Stephanie M. Blalock, Digital Humanities Librarian and Curator of Whitman Exhibit, “Whitman at 200: An Introduction”; Ed Folsom, Roy J. Carver Professor of English, “Whitman Getting Old”; reception following. Blalock is Associate Editor of the online Walt Whitman Archive and author of “Go to Pfaff’s!”: The History of a Restaurant and Lager Beer Salon (2014). Folsom is the editor of the Walt Whitman Quarterly Review, co-director of the Walt Whitman Archive, editor of the Iowa Whitman Series, and author or editor of twelve books on Whitman.
