Emily Martin Shows Pantone Postcard Project

December 19, 2013 - 10:00 am

CSPS Hall, 1103 3rd St SE (New Bohemia arts district), Cedar Rapids, IA

The Pantone Postcard Project by Emily Martin, adjunct professor in the UI Center of the Book, is on display at Legion Arts located in C.S.P.S. Hall, 1103 Third Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The show will continue until Dec. 29.

Based around the Pantone postcard set printed by Chronicle Books, the Pantone Postcard Project began with Iowa City artist Emily Martin sending out a request on Facebook for artists to claim one of 100 cards in the set. After they received a randomly selected card in the mail (featuring a Pantone color), the artists gave the cards their own distinctive treatments and mailed them back. Those cards make up the exhibit and include everything from an embroidered leaf on a field of “Sauterne” to “Arggg” punched in holes in a block of “Pirate Black.”
