Antelope Lending Library Bookmobile Launch

May 11, 2013 -
9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Ped Mall
Iowa City

Come join us for the community launch of the Antelope Lending Library bookmobile and mobile classroom! The mobile library, started by SLIS students, is a James Gang endeavor and has partnered with the Iowa Youth Writing Project to provide library and information access to the underserved Southeast side of Iowa City.

This Saturday, Antelope and IYWP will be downtown supporting the Benchmarks 2.0 project organized by reclaiming roots and overseen by Public Space One, both fellow James Gang endeavors. Free donuts and coffee in the morning and lunch provided by the Bread Garden are available to volunteers who help prep the benches for artist applications later this month. If you are interested in registering for the event, go to: http://reclaimingroots.org/projects/project-13-benchmarks-downtown-i-c/

From 1 - 2 pm, there will be a reading featuring UI undergraduate and graduate students from the Certificate in Writing, the Creative Writing Track, the Iowa Youth Writing Project, and the Writers' Workshop. Those reading are Mollie Martin, Jacob Lancaster, Justin Cox, Zach Vickers, and Fatima Espiritu. For more information about the reading, go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/459892737418198/

Join us! And if you have books you would like to donate, please feel free to bring them as well.

See you there!
