The International Writing Program presents...
The LGBT Virtual Reading Group

WHAT: The International Writing Program at the University of Iowa and the Glasgow University LGBT Students' Association are proud to present a monthly online reading group, which connects LGBT communities in Iowa City and Glasgow, Scotland. In this informal reading group, we will begin reading Justin Torres' novel "We the Animals." Four live, online discussions will be held monthly, beginning in February. No previous experience in literature studies is required. Everyone is welcome to join!

WHEN: Live sessions will occur from 12:00pm to 1:30pm on the following Thursdays: February 28, March 14, April 11, and May 2.

WHO: Poet and painter Stephanie Goehring will facilitate the reading group in Iowa City. Stephanie graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 2012 and has published two chapbooks of poems, This Room Has a Ghost (Dancing Girl Press) and I Miss You Very Much (Slim Princess Holdings). Facilitating the group from Glasgow is Louise Welsh, the author of five novels and the recipient of the Saltire First Book Award, City of Glasgow Lord Provost's Award for Literature, among others.

WHY: Whether you're a writer, a reader, or someone who's looking to get more involved in extracurricular activities, this is a great way to connect with others in and beyond Iowa City, not to mention read a couple of good books.

GET INVOLVED: Interested persons should email rebecca-boyle@uiowa.edu.
