February 27, 2014 -

Group Area D in the Learning Commons, Main Library (across from the Food for Thought Cafe)

Despite spending considerable time thoughtfully embedding technology-enabled learning events in my classes, Professor Ken Brown wonders if he’s doing more harm than good. Four particular technological tools (student polling, online quizzing, email reminders, and video clips) will be explained and discussed with an eye toward their potential for harm as well as good. Professor Brown will invite a discussion of the potential drawbacks of technology in our classrooms, ways to ameliorate them, and “old school” alternatives.
