Workshop on Human Subjects Review & IRB

February 22, 2012 - 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Indiana Room (#346)

Did you know that all "honors theses, research practica and Master's or Doctoral theses involving human subjects MUST be submitted for IRB review?"

This presentation is for anyone who might collect data for research purposes via interviews, surveys, oral histories, focus groups, secondary data analysis, or any other data collection method. Don't risk having your research delayed or invalidated. Find out if IRB approval applies to your project and learn the requirements BEFORE you begin to plan your research project.

The presentation will include definitions of terms, background on the IRB review process and investigator responsibilities after IRB approval. Attendees will learn about a variety of resource offered by the IRB and the Human Subjects Office (HSO) that are available to graduate student researchers.

Even if you do not plan to do a research project for your poster that requires IRB approval, it should be useful information for the future.
