Katopol's Class Takes Tour of 'Treasures'

Professor Patricia Katopol’s Special Libraries class got a look at what Rare Books Curator David Schoonover calls the “Top 10 + 2” on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Faculty and other SLIS students also joined the tour, which included items ranging from 2050 B.C. to 2008 A.D. Schoonover talked about each one of the rare books and told a story of how it came into the collection. He also talked a little bit about preservation work—the Celano Missal ca. 1387, for example, has some damage from book worms.

Two Branch Libraries Move Over Break

The Math Library and Psychology Library are no longer separate entities at the University of Iowa. Now the psychology collection is at the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences and the Math collection is on the second floor of the Main Library.

The Physics Library and Geosciences Library will be merged over the summer.
